tv tuesday
So the show of this week is the cult classic Twin Peaks. Created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. I cant say I am a huge Lynch fan, mostly because I havent seen enough of his stuff to know if I really liked it. I kind of watched Mullholand Dr- but I feel asleep through some of it so I didnt really get the gist of it. (I hear that doesnt really matter in most of his stuff though)
But so far this show is really good. Here is the overview:
As with much of Lynch's other work (notably Blue Velvet), Twin Peaks explores the gulf between the veneer of small-town respectability and the seedier layers of life lurking beneath it. Each character from the town leads a double life that is slowly uncovered as the series progresses, as it attempts to expose the dark side of seemingly innocent lives. The show further resembles Lynch's previous and subsequent work, in that it is difficult to place in a defined genre: stylistically, the program borrows the unsettling tone and supernatural premises of horror films, and simultaneously offers a bizarrely comical parody of American soap operas with a campy, melodramatic presentation of the morally dubious activities of its quirky characters. Finally, like the rest of Lynch's oeuvre, the show represents an earnest moral inquiry distinguished by both weird humor and a deep vein of surrealism.
There is a prequel called Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Im planning on watching that as soon as this is done. Its only two seasons so it will be a fun little spooky little number to enjoy.

Finally I will be able to see what all the fuss is about. I know it was pretty much done by JJ Abrams and all of his stuff is really interesting to watch even if it is kind of nerdy, and I dont know if I woud call myself a fantasy nerd but I definitely am a nerd, so I' sure it will be entertaining.

telemundo
One of the freakin cutest shows ever! Its a mix of sweet and macabre. Honestly, I could watch this show with the mute on and still be intrigued by it. I think the basis of the show is a really cool idea and it has a lot of neat random twists and turns, but its not too confusing and its not a show you have to watch every week to know whats going on. Plus it always makes you hungry for more, not just because of the pies but because of the super bright colors and great styling and set design. I also need to mention a great cast (Hello Kristin Chenoweth!) The end of the series was finished in a comic book which I havent had a chance to pick up yet, but I am planning on getting it as soon as I can. Its streaming on Netflix now and its definitely worth a few hours.

tv!
Well recently I have been taking advantage of this nifty little feature and I have been watching a ton of great shows.
The one I want to talk about today is Skins (UK version)
I know I am a little late to this party but hey at least I arrived. Anways, I am in love with this show. I didnt think it was a lot like American teen shows were their lives are almost too perfect and unrealistic, obviously some of the stuff on this show isnt what everyday life is like since some of them go to prep schools, etc, but a lot of it is. Its not too made up. Its fresh and new (and its even been around for awhile) Ive only seen the first season so far, but I am already planning time to continue on to however many there are. I think this cast changes after the 2 or 3rd season, but Ill still give it a watch even after that. I refuse to watch the US version though, why fix something thats not broken, or rather watch something that you know isnt going to be good and has been done before.
