Hello 20-10

Photobucket

I can't get enough...

I was searching for some pictures the other day and I came across this artist that I really like. I can't ever get enough of these pictures, I can look at them all day long and still want more. I think they are really creative and interesting. I am not a huge fan of a splotch of paint on a canvas and considering that art, but I do like stuff that is out of the ordinary. I feel like with these pictures I can really tell what that person was thinking.
Her name is Femke Hiemstra and her book is Rock Candy.

once in a blue moon...

LOS ANGELES – Once in a blue moon there is one on New Year's Eve. Revelers ringing in 2010 will be treated to a so-called blue moon. According to popular definition, a blue moon is the second full moon in a month. But don't expect it to be blue — the name has nothing to do with the color of our closest celestial neighbor.

A full moon occurred on Dec. 2. It will appear again on Thursday in time for the New Year's countdown.

"If you're in Times Square, you'll see the full moon right above you. It's going to be that brilliant," said Jack Horkheimer, director emeritus of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium and host of a weekly astronomy TV show.

The New Year's Eve blue moon will be visible in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Africa. For partygoers in Australia and Asia, the full moon does not show up until New Year's Day, making January a blue moon month for them.

However, the Eastern Hemisphere can celebrate with a partial lunar eclipse on New Year's Eve when part of the moon enters the Earth's shadow. The eclipse will not be visible in the Americas.

A full moon occurs every 29.5 days, and most years have 12. On average, an extra full moon in a month — a blue moon — occurs every 2.5 years. The last time there was a lunar double take was in May 2007. New Year's Eve blue moons are rarer, occurring every 19 years. The last time was in 1990; the next one won't come again until 2028.

Blue moons have no astronomical significance, said Greg Laughlin, an astronomer at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

"`Blue moon' is just a name in the same sense as a `hunter's moon' or a `harvest moon,'" Laughlin said in an e-mail.

The popular definition of blue moon came about after a writer for Sky & Telescope magazine in 1946 misinterpreted the Maine Farmer's Almanac and labeled a blue moon as the second full moon in a month. In fact, the almanac defined a blue moon as the third full moon in a season with four full moons, not the usual three.

Though Sky & Telescope corrected the error decades later, the definition caught on. For purists, however, this New Year's Eve full moon doesn't even qualify as a blue moon. It's just the first full moon of the winter season

Sagittarius Year 2010 Overview
Did you just hear that gigantic cry of "hooray"? That was the sound of millions of Sagittarian lives getting better in 2010. Pluto has moved out of your sign, and Saturn has left Virgo (which wasn't doing you any favors either, as you may have noticed from the unusual pressures in your home life, and the difficulties you've had getting what you need to feel secure).

Of course, as much as you'd like all of life to match that happy, carefree streak you have, you know it doesn't always work out that way. The big pressures have just moved on and changed form. Fortunately, your reputation for being able to see the bright side of things will generally be justified by these new issues. There will be new challenges to your money supply and how you handle your money, and yet you'll also have new opportunities to correct problems in your material life, and maybe even prosper more than you ever have before.

Work is also going to present new roles and new opportunities, and will also give you chances to shine. And there will also be new demands from your friends and loved ones. But those same issues will help you sort out who is of real value to you, and what your real value is to them too. The hard work that you've sometimes had to put in during the last two years is going to start paying off for you. And for some of you, the rewards will be enormous. Can I hear a "hooray" out there?

favesies.

Tis the season to make lists on blogs. I think there is supposed to be a certain number of things in a list but I am going to ignore that. This here is going to be a list of my favorite things in 2009. I think they are pretty much in chronological order but some things may be out of place. Oh how fun and crazy this year has been.

Darlene's bday in Vegas! We really had a good time hanging out in our penthouse and dancing up a storm. Not to mention some pretty good shopping and a fancy expensive dinner. Goals! I was surprised in myself that I actually did some stuff that I had been wanting to do for a long time. I started school and I got off my booty and started running. They of course are still in the process of happening but at least Im making it work for now. June California trip This was probably one of the funnest vacation trips I have ever been on. A week of just hanging out, things couldnt have been better. Vegas-california-disneyland-the beach-disembodied-warm swimming pools, need I say more? Brooklyn Rae Mark I love this little lady. She is so adorable and she has the pretty eyes a little girl could have. I am so excited to see her grow up and to hang out with her. Good job Christen! haha HP #6 and New Moon I know these movies are kind of cheesy and/or a little over top but I love having stuff to look forward too and I really liked the way these movies turned out. Plus its fun talking to everybody about them. Big shows I got to see some really fun shows this year. It seems like some of the little ones were kind of lacking but the big ones made up for it: Disemobdied (previously mentioned), Lily Allen, Gogo Bordello, Sub for Santa/ Aftermath- they were just all around a good time. Ohio! It was crazy seeing and meeting a lot of my family for the first time. Me and my sister really got to learn a new side of kind of who we are and some of our family background. Im glad I got to go. Work stuff I aint gonna lie, it was pretty neat to be named an outstanding employee and also to be a night shift lead. Its a little embarassing getting attention but I really like being able to sort of move up and prove myself more. And last but not least were the really fun Bday parties. I have great friends who do way too much for me and I have (hopefully) made their birthdays fun as well.

I am really looking forward to 2010. I have some good ideas of stuff I want to do and things I want to try to improve on. Here's hoping for the best!

done and done.

Well Christmas is over and I can say that with some relief. This year was a little more stressful than previous ones and it kind of got me down. Usually I love all the lights and shopping and getting hot chocolate and decorating, but this year all of it seemed like such a hassle. Oh well.
I still had a good time and I got some really great gifts from my friends and family. Thank you so much to everyone who I got to spend time with and who made this holiday as good as it can be.

vampire bandwagon.

This kind of looks good.

work today.

Photobucket

Thanks to Kimi and Darlene's crafty ideas.

I dont get it.

Photobucket

Jessica Simpson and Billy Corgan?!!!

N.Y.E.

I'm not sure if anything is going on for New Year's Eve 2010, but I hope something is. I would really like to dress up and have fun. The last few new years have been really fun, dont get me wrong I love hanging out w/ the besties and playing games... But most of the time its always like oh hey everybody its passed midnight, haha. Well this year I plan on dressing up, kind of. I just want to wear fancy shoes and look pretty.
I found these shoes at Lulu's and I think they are the most perfect New Year's shoes ever.

I'm not sure what will end up happening but I'm sure we will have fun.
Also I dont really understand First Night or I guess its called Eve this year. Who's brilliant idea was it to have a 3-day party in downtown SLC when its freeeeezing and snowy outside. I haven't ever been so I can't say that its not fun but I just have a feeling it would be a whole mess of db's and my hands and nose would be frozen all night and it would be super lame.

I've decided.

I think if i get a new car next year... Wait, let me rephrase that... When my car decides to die on me, which will probably be next year... I want to get a Mini Cooper. I am a fan of the little cars and I think these would be so fun to drive. I really liked the Scion TC and the newer Honda Civic's but I'm not sure if those are the right cars for me, plus these are about the same price. I also looked up these little cuties on this neat website I found and it said they are an excellent buy... so why not?

its a wrap.

I saw these really cute headwraps a when I was at the mall worn by some stylish ladies but I can't seem to find them anywhere. I had seen one a few months ago on the Anthropologie website but now they are nowhere to be found. I dont really like wearing hats in winter because I end up looking like a hot mess when i have to take them off and well thats just no good for anybody.
So these are the closest I could find to what I have seen...

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

If I can't find what I'm looking for I might just have to settle for a hat. And in that case I want one with big pom poms.

xmas movies.

There really aren't that many days until Christmas. Well technically there are but I am really bad at procrastinating and so before I know it Christmas is going to be tomorrow. I have heard lots of Bahumbugs this year and I think everybody would be much happier if they just sat down and watched one of these awesome holiday movies with a warm cup of peppermint hot chocolate and some peanuts roasting on an open fire.

My most favorite holiday movie is Home Alone.
Photobucket
Its a classic plus Macauly Culkin is such a cute innocent little kid in it. I really liked Home Alone 2 as well, not as much as the first but its good sequel.

I also really like Elf.
Photobucket
This is one of the first movies I started loving Zooey D. (except I dont really think its that old) and I think its one of Will Ferrel's best.

My next favorites are Christmas Vacation and How the Grinch Stone Christmas (the first one, not Jim Carey, even that one is alright I guess)
Photobucket
Photobucket
Christmas Vacation is the best because stuff like that really does happen... sometimes. Life can certainly be boring but then comes along times where you just think to yourself "This isn't happening, This isn't happening..."
And How the Grinch Stole Christmas is just cute, ok.

Other good ones are Bad Santa and A Christmas Story.
They are the kind of funny where things are really awkward and you dont know if you should look away or just laugh out loud. But they still have somewhat of a holiday spirit and people coming togehter as a big happy family, kind of.

And last but not least faves are Harry Potters. I know, I know, these technically aren't "Christmas" movies but they are sooo magical and thats what the holidays are about, right? The 1st one and 4th one have the best holiday scenes and it makes me wish I was right there w/ Harry and Ron and Hermione opening a present from Mrs Weasley which probably would have been a sweater with a big V on it.

Plan.

I have to get back into having motivation to work-out. Sometimes I have it and sometimes I dont, at all.
I think the hardest thing about being fit/ exercising/ working out is that there isn't a trick to it or some easy way out. I wish that there was but basically you get what you put into it.
Photobucket
Anyways I have a plan. We will see if it works but its going to be a short-term day to day plan. I am going to try to make it as simple as possible so I wont have any excuses for not doing it.
One: Running. Thats it. But I need to push myself to run- more fast and longer than I have before.
Two: Eat right. Just balanced anyway and LOTS of water.
Three: Sleep. At least 8 hours.

If I can do these things everyday than maybe I can add some more stuff to it. I've had a pretty good run so far but I can't stop myself from wanting to do more. I think this is going to be a struggle I will always have, but I'm up for the challenge.

Photobucket

To peep or not to peep.

I really like the style of these two-tone shoes but I can't decide which ones I like better.
Photobucket
or
Photobucket

They are both at Plasticland

And they would both be cute w/ solid colored tights or even big-holed fishnets. Decisions, decisions.

dreamland.

I just want to do this for the next 10 days.
Photobucket

I have been not sleeping lately... some having to do with partying and some having to do with not being able to shut my mind off.
I am definitely not a home-body, I will always hang out any time of day or night which is totally ok with me.... I just wish the rest of the time I can get some good nights sleep for when I need it.

I look fly, I look good.

Look at all this sweet stuff I got! A super awesome party AND awesome gifts?! Lucky me!

Photobucket

Thank you to all my lovely friends and wonderful family.

thank you. thank you. thank you.

OMG. I just had one of the best holiday weekends EVER.
Thanksgiving was pretty fun w/ the fams. It was really mellow and I made the best mashed potatoes ever. It included a lot of football wathing and uno playing (or cheating.. either way). It was a nice day and I enjoyed every second of it.
Friday- aka Black friday was an ok day too. Got a little shopping done with some besties and saw Ninja Assassins (dont worry Darlene, I will leave it at that)
then the real fun began...
I got my hair did on Saturday... I went a little more blonde and idk why but I love having blonde hair. Its fun!
So the best gal friends anybody could ask for thru me a Day of the Dead birthday party! It was sooo much fun. It was complete with skully cookies, delicious cupcakes, yummy fajitas, 7-layer bean dip, mexi soda, cookies/candy, an awesome altar, skully decor everywhere, and cute pictures. omg, some of the best decor I have ever seen. Everybody looked so good too, of course because we all have good style, but it was super sweet. I can't even believe I am so lucky to have had so many awesome bday parties. I really do have the best friends ever. It's not because they throw great parties (well thats some of it) but mostly because at those parties we can sit and talk for hours on end and still not want to leave. We can start talking and then begin again as if no time has passed even if its been a few days.
I love it.
Sunday was a nice break after the fabulous time we had on saturday. Except my body did hate me, I'm getting a litte too old to go to bed at 4 am. Haha. It was well worth it though.
Monday- today! Was my actual bday. I didnt work out and I gave myself a nice little bday present of sleeping in! The simple things in life.
Work was super busy... unfortunately, but it made the time go by pretty fast. I got many Happy Birthday wishes from co-workers and friends. It was great. I dont know if I can ever say enough Thank You's.
We also had a lovely dinner at Macaroni Grille. My fams and friends were there. So fun. We ended the night with a little bit of goofing off at Borders and getting little cactus pups- tute!

Thank you everyone. I love you so much and I am so grateful to have you in my life.
oh and Thank You for the most B.A. gifts ever!!! I <3 them.

dear Vans, thanks for being so good to me.

reading

I love new books and magazines that are different and original ideas.
I found this really cool book at B&N and I had to have it as soon as I saw it, haha. Its Called Hi-Fructose. Apparently it's a magazine and this is the best of the articles/ artists. It has some really cool stuff in it and it reminds me a lot of Pop Surrealism and that type of art stuff.
It has the usual ones (Mark Ryden, Ray Caesar) and some pretty cool ones I havent heard of before. Its pretty neat.
Photobucket
I also go the new Lula magazine which I have been waiting for for such a long time. It only comes out like once every 4 months but it is so worth it -not to mention its from the UK so it takes even longer :( It is seriously the coolest magazine I have ever seen. I want the first editions that came out but they are quite pricey on ebay... maybe I can find some good deals online.
It has the cutest articles and interviews in it and its not all super serious.
One of my favorite in this one is a little dedication to one of the old silent film movie stars- you can't get any cuter than that.
Photobucket

To add to my collection I really need to get these books.
I have really liked this artist since I saw the little fairies on the Prada bags from a year or two ago. He has some interesting takes on anatomy and lots of different portrayals of people and human activities. (some of it is a little um, unusual but its all really good I think haha)
Photobucket
Photobucket

I like this art because it explains a lot of ideas that I have. Haha. Sometimes they just don't make sense. My ideas can be like dreams with so many elements and so many random people, objects, and themes that the only to understand is just to look at the bigger picture and plus not everything has to make sense, sometimes thing can just be what they are.

i aint gonna lie.

I liked New Moon. I admit it was really cheese-tastic and the acting is not Oscar worthy but compared to the first one it is a million times better. It doesnt really compare to the book (This book was my fave) but if you look at them as two separate entities then I think it all works out. Oh and I noticed something kind of weird... besides the few times they mention the word vampire, the movie really doesnt have anything to do with vampires. No blood drinking, no more blood than like a little drop, and no mention of getting blood- kinda weird.
I really liked the werewolves though, I thought they did a good job w/ the special effects. I cant really say there are any other movies where I really liked the werewolves so thats pretty cool I guess. Im totes gonna buy it when it comes out.
I cant wait for Eclipse now, haha.

bunny ears

I think these can be really cute. Im all for stuff that is whimsical and fun.... aaand they kind of remind me of bows, mishapened bows.
I dont know if it would be proper attire to wear say for a business meeting but I think they would be really fun to wear going out and having fun.
I think its important not to take life too seriously so I would happily rock a pair of these just for fun, in and outside of my house.

for you boys who drive me crazy.

Tim Burton

This would probably be one of the best art exhibits ever to see.

I dont know if there is anything of Tim Burtons that I dont like. I think some stuff I like a lot more than others but I think he has amazing creativity and has such a unique style of making different types of art.

Apparently his art exhibit is Nov22- April 26 at MOMA in new york. I wanna go.

classy glassy

I like these glasses.
I have wanted some new glasses for-ev-er. Im gonna need to try them on but I think they have some cuteness potential.

Photobucket

and if they dont work I can always get this necklace. Haha.

Photobucket

P.S. Etsy you are killing me.

New Moon.

Well the time is almost here. I am excited and not excited at the very same moment. The second book was my favorite out of all of them... just because its sooo romantic, haha. But the first movie was well not Oscar winning. I think this one will be better than the first but I dont know if I should necessarily have high hopes for it.
Photobucket

I made a recent decision that I think I like Nikki Reed the best out of this cast. I think she is really pretty and has a super cute style. I didnt really see her as Rosalie but I get it now. Plus she isnt a hot mess like K-Stew always is. I like Ashley Greene too but Im not sure about her style.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

As far as the boys go...I like Kellan Lutz too because he seems like just such a cute guy and a good cuddler (for some reason) and not all super sensitive sally like Rob P. Dont get me wrong Rob P. can take a good picture (sometimes) but he seems like such a downer. Dont even get me started on Jackson R. Oh and the wolf pack is pretty fine too, minus the cheesy tat tat tat'd up.
